Winthrop/Sun Mountain Lodge/Methow River Adventure

Who knew that 10 girls going on a fly fishing and hiking adventure would take so much luggage!  One large van and one “barge” car loaded to the gills (pun!) and we were off to Winthrop.  Four and half hours later and we were lounging around our huge cabin with a cozy fire.  After the chores were divided and schedules set the adults went to bed and the girls played games, talked and hung out.

Pancakes, eggs and bacon and we were ready to fish the Methow.  Actually, 5 girls fished and 5 hiked 5.5 miles to the summit of Kraule Mountain.  At noon the two groups met back at the cabin for our picnic lunch.  We switched adventures for the afternoon.  What a great day!  Lots of bumps, bites and LDR’s.  The girls really caught on to fishing in a current and began mending their line like pros.

After our hearty dinner we all headed up to the lodge for a dip in the hot tub…with quick jumps into the pool…yeowww!  We tried to figure out the constellations and watched for shooting stars.  Once warm and in pjs we played bananagrams and ate Mrs. Savery’s “Caramel Corn” – which was a fave and dubbed “our Winthrop Mix.”
