Final Outing of the Year

The final outing for the Girls Club was to the Outback Kangaroo and Wallaby Farm in Arlington followed by a picnic and fishing.  We got up close and personal to wallabies, big red kangaroos, llamas, tortoise, peacocks and a whole menagerie of  exotic animals.

Each girl got to kiss a llama – not kidding – see photos!  And snuggle with a baby kangaroo (a “joey”).  We had a blast!  We had a picnic in the drizzly rain at Twin Lakes Park followed by fishing in the North Lake.  There had been a fishing derby in the South Lake so it was shoulder to shoulder on “our” lake while the parents waited for the planted trout to be released into the North Lake…it never happened and we saw nary a soul catch a fish.
The girls attracted quite a lot of attention – including boys.  The usual fishing mishaps – knots, lost flies, trees grabbing our lines – but the girls cast like pros.

We had a great ending to a year of adventure and fun!
